Types of inspection
Between visual, manual, and automated checks
Makana.com uses three primary types of inspections to ensure a comprehensive evaluation:
Visual inspection: A basic walk-around of the machine to inspect external components, such as glass, mirrors, handrails, and structural elements like the frame or chassis. The inspector does not manipulate or interact with the machine but checks for obvious signs of damage or wear.
Manual inspection: A hands-on approach where the inspector physically interacts with the machine. This includes starting the engine, operating the controls, and testing movement to assess the condition of operational components such as the brakes, hydraulic systems, and safety features like alarms and seat belts.
Automated inspection: For precise measurements and diagnostics, we use specialized tools to conduct automated checks. These include measuring track wear, pulling diagnostic data from the machine’s onboard systems, and performing automated tests for engine pressure, compression, and cylinder health.
